Culross, Fife

The beautiful village of Culross was believed to be the birthplace of Glasgow’s patron saint, Mungo, and it is perhaps for this reason that an abbey was founded here in the 13th century. When you come into the village, it is as though you have stepped back in time. So much of the village is original, with its narrow wynds or streets - including the evocative \"Stinking Wynd\"- and stunning buildings, that you can begin to see what a 16th century village might really have looked like. I wanted to capture the atmosphere of this tranquil place, the sunlit street, and, in the distance, our French friends admiring the ancient houses.
