The Relaunch of the Waverley

The paddle steamer PS Waverley, launched on 2 October 1946, is the last sea going paddle steamer in the world. In 2003, she was completely restored to her former glory and we went to Glasgow to watch her being relaunched. This sleek, elegant ship sailed once more down the Clyde, returning to her berth through a barrage of fireworks, her blazing colours reflected in the rippling water – this was an occasion that demanded commemoration.
